SUMMER FLEA!

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Summer Flea is a charitable open air market featuring your friends from the neighborhood selling a wide variety of handmade jewelry and artwork, antiques, vintage clothing, records, crafts, and much more.

THIS SUNDAY!  August 8th, 2010 12-5 PM, 1024 N. High Street (Fireproof Storage parking lot on the corner of E. 2nd Avenue and High Street in the Short North)

Proceeds from booth fees benefit the Mid-Ohio Foodbank (http://www.midohiofoodbank.org/).

Wonderknit will be at Summer Flea with an assortment of yarns, needles, notions, patterns, and Soak, plus a limited number of signed copies of Pints and Purls!  I’ll be picking up some Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Sock from Karida this afternoon, and I’ll have some summer yarns and some lovely kits to help you get ready for fall!

We’ll be sharing a booth with Penelope Danger Cupcakes, so you’ll be able to get your sugar fix too!

Check out the list of vendors at Summer Flea–some very cool people will be there.  Can’t wait to see you!

Luv,

Libby

p.s. The new Wonderknit website with online shopping will be up and running September first!

Hold up a sec!

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

We are almost ready to launch our online store, but not quite!  Stick with us, we’ll be up and running soon with a full online store and a brand new shiny website!

book signing and party!

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Date: Thursday, June 10
Time: 7:30-9:30 PM
Place: ReFINDesign Workshop, 1122 N. High st (in the Short North next door to Surly Girl Saloon.)

Once upon a time, the renegades of knitwear design formed a club, and they called it Stitch Cooperative. Then they came to Columbus to teach a bunch of fantastic classes that you (yes, you!) can sign up for.

But first, since they’re renegades, they thought they’d party with WonderKnit.

Shannon Okey and Annie Modesitt  (and possibly other Cooperative deisgners, TBA) will be signing books, and so will Karida and Libby. We’ll have books for sale, a smattering of yarns (I’ll be getting something fun in for this event), and, of course, wine and cupcakes.

Plus you’ll get to check out ReFINDesign Workshop, a cool new addition to the Short North. It’s an art gallery and workshop space dedicated to recycling trash into useful, unique items.  They’re upstarts.  We like upstarts.

Come!

Stitch Cooperative!

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Wanna take a class with Annie Modesitt?  or Shannon Oakey?  How about Miriam Felton, Andi Smith, Teva Durham and even MORE superstar renegade designers?  They’re coming to Columbus!  CLICK! Wouldja just look at those classes?  They look awesome.

We’ll be hosting a party and book signing for these folks on Thursday, June 11 at 7:30 PM.  (Location and final lineup TBA, STAY TUNED!)  That’s right–your favorite knitwear designers under one roof.  I’m surprised it’s legal.  I’ll have books on hand you can buy and get signed, or you can bring your copy from home.

Reserve your spot in the class you want now, before it sells out!

WonderKnit is Going VIRTUAL!

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Hi WonderKnitters,

I’ve got some pretty big news for you today. WonderKnit is going completely virtual. What does that mean? It means a better WonderKnit.  Better inventory.  Better prices.  Better community support with knitting nights across the city.   Better classes. Rad parties.  No more storefront.

Say whaaaa? That’s right, we’re closing our brick and mortar storefront.  This wasn’t an easy decision, but the time, energy, and capitol it takes to rent and maintain a store is too expensive on our time and treasures, and frankly, who doesn’t want more precious yarn at better prices and with a stronger community? Without a storefront we’ll be able to invest more time and money into the things that make WonderKnit kickass — the people, community, classes, rad parties, and quality products (at new lower prices!)

We’re so incredibly overwhelmed by how awesome our customers are, and by taking Wonderknit virtual we’ll be able to take all the good things we’ve done over the past two years and make them… BETTER.

To celebrate our virtual transformation we’ll be offering a 25% discount on all in-store purchases. Our hours will also be changing between today and the end of the month. We’ll be opening at 1pm (instead of 11am.) Sorry, we’ve got a lot of work to do to transition our bizness.

If you have one of those old fashioned paper gift certificates, don’t you worry. We’ll continue to honor them (just shoot me an email).

As we make this transition we’ll be sure to keep you all in the loop. We have a lot of exciting ideas that we’ll be sharing with you over the next several weeks and months.

Luv,
Libby

This weekend at Wonderknit

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Lots of opportunities for expanding your skill set at Wonderknit this weekend!  There are spaces available in all three of these classes.  Give us a call and reserve yours today!

Learn to Crochet!  Crochet 101 starts Saturday at noon.  If you’ve been wanting to learn now is the time!

Also on Saturday, you can learn increasing, decreasing, and knitting in the round while making a super cool spring beret.

On Sunday, you can come learn the fundamentals of lace knitting.  It’s really not that hard, you can totally do it.

(Also the BBQ cart across the street is open on the weekends!  If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s getting rave reviews.)
